Huawei has now updated the number of applications on its HarmonyOS NEXT operating system to more than 15,000, aiming to become the third operating system to challenge Android and iOS for market share in mobile operating systems.
After Huawei was hit by trade sanctions from the US government, smartphones under the Huawei brand could not use the Android operating system developed by Google, causing Huawei to have to develop its own operating system called HarmonyOS NEXT.
HarmonyOS NEXT was launched in 2019, but until now, the status of HarmonyOS NEXT is still in the form of a public beta, available only to some Huawei devices in China.
According to Huawei, the devices that support testing HarmonyOS NEXT include:
- HUAWEI Mate 60
- HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro+
- HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro
- HUAWEI Mate 60 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN
- HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra
- HUAWEI Pocket 2
- HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2-inch
- HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11-inch 2024 model
- HUAWEI Mate X5
- HUAWEI Mate X5 Collector’s Edition
- HUAWEI Pura 70
- HUAWEI Pura 70 Pro
- HUAWEI Pura 70 Pro+
- HUAWEI Pocket 2 Art Edition
- HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2-inch Collector’s Edition
- HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate
It should also be said that although Huawei began developing HarmonyOS NEXT 5 years ago, it was not until 2023 that Huawei got serious about the operating system, which is not based on Android or the Android Open Source Project code. (AOSP)
