Apple is developing a top-secret app to help manage blood sugar levels to help people with prediabetes.

Bloomberg reported that Apple is testing a top-secret app to help people with prediabetes.

Sources inside Apple told Bloomberg that Apple tested by having employees with prediabetes undergo tests. During the tests, they used different devices available on the market and recorded changes, especially the food they ate each day.

Pre-diabetes or latent diabetes is a period when blood sugar is higher than normal, but not yet high enough to become type 2 diabetes. Although there is no cure, it can be corrected through diet and exercise.

In terms of the concept of developing Apple’s diabetes management application, the approach of choosing good food pairings can control blood sugar levels. For example, eating foods high in carbohydrates may cause blood sugar levels to spike, but pairing them with foods high in protein has a chance of helping blood sugar levels drop.

Of course, data from the application will be an important variable for Apple to develop future health technology devices or products. And there is no plan to develop this application on the App Store.

In the past, Apple has been in the news for a long time that it is developing projects related to diabetic patients, especially the development of sensors embedded with the Apple Watch. But the challenges of this project make the development difficult.

It should also be said that this is an important project of Apple since the era when Steve Jobs was still alive.

In addition to the blood sugar measurement project, Apple has other important health projects underway, such as sleep apnea detection and hearing capabilities that will work with AirPods.
